Places to Visit in Leeds
Leeds has many places to visit for tourists or we can say it is one of the happening and attractive city in UK to visit. There are lots of things you will love to do in Leeds. Leeds city includes theme parks and gardens, Leeds castle, abbeys, museums and theatres. One of the most versatile places which include fabulous house and gorgeous gardens is the Harewood house. Leeds weather make the places more interesting and enjoyable.
Harewood House
Harewood house is a place where you can plan a trip and take your family along with you. It is a stately home which is few minutes drive from Leeds. Don’t think that if you have interest in history than you should visit instead it is a place where you can enjoy with your family. It includes a bird garden with exotic delights as parrots, flamingos and even penguins. The house also has a big garden where you can enjoy boating and have fun in eating and playing different games. It also includes a beautiful lakeside walk which is generally enjoyed by everyone. For children this is the best place to enjoy in the garden. It has beautifully decorated rooms complete with Chippendale furniture and a tea service that once belonged to Marie-Antoinette. All in all it is just impressive and amazing.
Kirkstall Abbey
Another amazing place to visit in Leeds is Kirkstall abbey. It is a wonderful example of medieval abbey. You will find woodland trails, recreation spaces, tennis courts, and children’s playground. You can easily visit this place as it is just couple of miles away from the city centre and well served by the transportation facilities provided in Leeds. There is a visitor’s centre which provides information about history with interactive displays and presentations which explains the history of the place. There are lots of events that take place in Kirkstall like ranging from ghost walks to various festivals and not to mention an annual open-air concert. Apart from this you can walk around the Victorian streets.
Millennium Square
It is one of the loveliest city squares in the UK. It not only has huge buildings but some amazing nightspots and good eateries as well. It is must that you spend at least a week to this marvellous place. It has everything in it from civic hall to garden, museum and theatre. One in all it is the loveliest place to enjoy and have fun. You can have fun in eating as well as hanging around the millennium square.
Roundhay Park
As its name itself sounds that it is a huge park with greenery all around, it is considered as the largest municipal park in the Europe. It also includes the beautiful mansion house which dated back 1800’s, a folly, a mock castle, two lakes, and other interesting places like shops etc. there are lots of public exhibitions taking place in the park. Also it is good place to enjoy walking along the streets. As you walk you will notice the sound of woodpeckers around the trees. There are two lakes and the upper Lake is maintained as a wildlife area and Waterloo Lake is available for fishing. If you are in a mood to play there are tennis courts, areas for skateboarding, sports pitches, bowling greens, and a golf course. Otherwise you can just relax and enjoy in peace and calmness in the beautiful garden with scented flowers all around.
Other than this there are many other places to visit in Leeds like Otley Chevin Forest park, golden acre park, Temple Newsam, and Granary Wharf etc.
